I sent an email asking what they had for limits as to vehicle age and mileage for financing a used car. The first response just said they had no limit on age as long as the vehicle’s value to loan ratio was sufficient, but didn’t say anything about mileage. So, I sent another email back, here’s the exchange.
Did I just get a sarcastic response? I’m seriously trying to come up with an explanation besides that. I thought maybe poor wording, but nothing makes sense besides a sarcastic response.

That was an automated response. It didn’t understand your question.

The vehicle mileage only affects the price of the car (as far as a bank is concerned). In the previous email they told you the age doesn’t matter as long as the value to loan ratio is kosher. They already answered your question so I’m guessing this was a sarcastic response on behalf of them.

I kind of figured it didn’t matter but their initial response just said age and nothing about mileage so I just wanted to make sure I wouldn’t have an issue.

I’d lean more towards misunderstanding or laziness, sort of like when I send an email asking for three specific details about something and get a single “Yes” in the reply. The mismatched color text hints at copy-and-paste or a semi-automated response.

I would say your question was poorly worded, but also the bank employee might be an idiot.
